Resource Management Associates (RMA) develops and implements forest management plans for both private and public clients. Forests can increase real estate asset values by producing valuable crops that can generate significant periodic income for landowners while concurrently providing aesthetic, recreational and water quality benefits. Due to the relative long planning horizon for new forest, we encourage landowners to develop long term multiple resource plans for their forest that allow adaption in the event landowners objectives or future economic circumstances change. Resource Management Associates designs harvest areas to protect sensitive environmental features and aesthetics. The most valuable tree in a forest is one that is intentionally reserved. Aesthetic buffer strips, wildlife corridors, den trees or selective harvest for a future homesite(s) or subdivision can maintain or create significant values that landowners or their family's may need in the future. RMA initiated and obtained legislative sponsors in Virginia's General Assembly for a state income tax credits for forest landowners to retain riparian buffer's during timber harvesting operations. Following harvest design, timber inventories are conducted to determine the types and volumes of
merchantable products. Timber markets are quite volatile and typically vary 30%-40% over a typical
year. Once we identify the character of the products available, and the environmentally sensitive
areas and assets of a particular site, then a marketing plan is developed to identify the optimum
time to maximize returns. We use a sealed bid sale technique that maximizes competition while
retaining the owner's ability to accept and/or reject any and all bids. We define the conditions of
sale necessary to protect the financial interest of the owner and the condition of the tract
following the harvest. Our careful monitoring of the harvesting operation insures the protection of
the land. Reforestation services are typically provided to insure that a high quality new stand is
developed for future generations. Resource Management Associates can also provide timber taxation
support by developing Timber depletion reports that may greatly reduce your tax liability when
conducting timber sales. Associated Services: |
